Giant dark matter bridge between galaxy clusters discovered



I have talked a lot about magnetic flux tubes carrying dark matter identified as phases of matter with non-standard value of Planck constant. They define basic structures of TGD Universe in all scales. The formation of galaxies and even stars involves these structures in an essential manner. They play also a key role also in biology and even bio-molecular physics.

Dark magnetic energy of flux tubes can be identified dark energy and this energy replaces the energy of inflaton field inflationary scenario. Ordinary and dark matter are created in the decay of this magnetic energy to particles just as ordinary particles are created in the decay of inflaton vacuum. Magnetic tension along flux tubes generates negative "pressure" inducing accelerated cosmic expansion, the magnetic fields filling the Universe have an explanation in terms of a gradual thickening of primordial cosmic strings having 2-D string orbit as M4 projection, etc., etc..

For these reasons, it is highly rewarding to learn that experimentalists are now discovering these structures. See the article

Closely related to the creation of vortices in BECs is the generation of so-called dark solitons in one-dimensional BECs. These topological objects feature a phase gradient across their nodal plane, which stabilizes their shape even in propagation and interaction. Although solitons carry no charge and are thus prone to decay, relatively long-lived dark solitons have been produced and studied extensively.

Silent revolution is going on behind the scenes. This Higgs hyping represents just the surface, and is a signal about the deep need of theorists to not be totally wrong. M-theory was mistake, standard SUSY was a mistake. It would be humiliating if also Higgs would turn out to be a mistake. Probably this will be the case.

The entire GUT philosophy will very probably turn out to be a mistake. A mistake that took four decades and several generations of theorists. The worst humiliation is that Nature told this from the beginning: proton did not decay as predicted. Theorists refused to listen since they knew better than Nature. Arrogance is one of the deadly sins, often regarded as the worst one, and sins get punished;-).

Stephen Wolfram wrote a nice guest post in the blog of Lubos. One of the points was that we know more that enough to build the ultimate theory. Building of gigantic accelerators is un-necessary. We must just use this information!

This is the case. Einstein built his theories with minimal information: just the most important bits leading to the principles of special and general relativities.

The most important bits of information - - that is knowledge about energy problem of general relativity and standard model symmetries- needed to build TGD had been present since sixties. There are many other manners to end up with TGD from experimental anomalies.

Problem is always the seed of a good theory: this lesson was forgotten when it was decided GUT provides a unified theory, and later that string model - a failure as a model of hadrons - defines the theory of everything. This was just wishful thinking combined with intellectual laziness.
