I am not a phanatic. 37 years of hard work and what is happening on the experimental side (and what is not happening on theoretical side) force me to talk straightly. It is my duty.

In every breakthrough in physics some theory has been selected by its internal virtues and others have dropped away from consideration. This is cruel but unavoidable. In the recent situation when AMS is warning about disastrous effects of the only game in the town mentality of super stringers and for forgetting the experimental reality, it is important that theories which really work would get the attention they desire. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

I of course understand the motivations of Lubos and it is nice that he talks about the experimental side. And strings are an important part of physics but definitely not in the manner that super stringers want to think. Strings are the key element of TGD too but they live in 4-D space-time and one avoids the non-sensical attempt to reduce physics to that of 10-D blackholes. By extending the superconformal symmetries one gets as a bonus many nice things: one understand 4-dimensionality of space-time and many other things.

If the only competitor of TGD trying to explain the SmB_6 is a theory describing them in terms of 10-D blackholes, there are very little doubts about the winner in the long run.

I want to make clear that I am not saying to underline my own contributions. It just happened to be me who became first conscious about TGD. It could have been Witten or some other name or non-name.

Matpitka@luukku.comhttp://tgdtheory.fi/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10614348.post-55685699314726760342015-07-05T15:43:45.477-07:002015-07-05T15:43:45.477-07:00Matti, there is a Yeats poem that the roebuck woul...Matti, there is a Yeats poem that the roebuck would describe God as a roebuck. If there is such a bigger picture then many will see their own take on general theory in this...Lubos seems to understand this is an important breakthrough the tries to incorporate it into methods of string theory. Of course you predicted some of this as having connections to other representations of a more general physics. You, see, it is not clear to me at all that in our exchanging of models that you are alone and that confirms your long speculations. You are just a little topologically insulated is all :-)L.
